Welcome to week 5, hopefully everyone was able to stay fairly dry over the weekend!! Go Fish Musical/Performance Assembly  - The students have been working very hard preparing for our musical 'Go Fish' and it is all coming together swimmingly!!  Caitlin and I have been discussing the work that the students have been putting into this musical and the proposed performances next week.  On this basis, these performances will constitute our class performance assemblies and we will not be having a separate  performance assembly.  We will still have our class prayer assemblies.   Performances of our musical will be next week at 1:30 on Wednesday 6 June (matinee) and at 6:30 pm on Friday 8 June.  Please, if you are available do come along, it is VERY good!!  Tuesday 5 June Pupil Free Day - Just a reminder that next Tuesday is a pupil free day, so please do not send your child to school. Week 4

A very big congratulations to all of the children! I was very proud of the fabulous effort and focus put in by all students! In our   literacy   lessons this week we have been looking at Sensational Story Starters...these include:  Action Description of a setting Description of a character Dialogue Rhetorical Question Statement  Onomatopoiea We discussed the importance of using one of these to 'hook' the reader into the story. Over the coming weeks we will begin to plan, draft, edit and publish a Dreamtime story using one of these starters. In our  maths  sessions we have moved on to symmetry having spent considerable effort on time.  We will be coming back to this later in the year. Wednesday 16th May -  Reading  (45 minutes) Thursday 17th May -  Numeracy  (45 minutes) You will see on Tuesday that we have two assessments to complete, we will do one in the first morning session and the second will be after recess. Our focus is on keeping the whole week low key and stress free! We had a good chat today where we talked about NAPLAN and I reminded the students that this test only tells the assessors a little about their learning...it doesn't tell them about their other talents and strengths. We talked about how all that we (myself and our parents) just ask and know that they will do their very best!   If I can ask if you can make sure they have a good breakfast and are as organised as possible to reduce any stress or concerns. At the end of each assessment our

Please let Mrs Horrocks know if you are able to help with costumes, props or catering but are unable to make the meeting this afternoon. Mothers Day Breakfast  - is being held in the Hall on Friday morning 11th May...please make sure that you have sent your RSVP to Fran Marrell at the Front Office. Reading Books  - Please support your child to change their reads once a week, on either Monday or Tuesday is best. Junior Musical Meeting

Go od afternoon parents, Mrs Horrocks has asked for me to post some information about the upcoming Musical 'Go Fish' on Friday 8th June (Week 6) this term.  If you have any questions about the performance, including costumes or the logistics of the musical then Mrs Horrocks is the person to ask! We will be having a short meeting on Monday 7th May at 3.15pm . It would be great if you could make it!  If you are unable to make the meeting, but are keen to help...please let me know.  More importantly she is looking for volunteers who can donate some of their time to assist with costumes, the set and other roles.  If this is something you can assist with, then please contact or see Mrs Horrocks on that Monday. Thanks again for your ongoing support. Sean McSevich
