Week 3

Welcome to week three. I hope you were all able to enjoy at least a little of the wonderful weather we had over the weekend, I know I did! This week we are moving into addition strategies in maths and continuing working through narrative writing in literacy.  This week in science we are exploring and manipulating shadows. Just a few points of note this week;  Homework Students have glued into their homework books their spelling, ma ths and homework grid. This is due Friday to provide opportunity to complete this around the busy home schedule.  All students have brought home a reader and I am starting to see these be swapped.  If your child has finished their reader, please encourage them to swap this in the morning before lesson start.  Please support your child to complete their homework by providing them the time to sit and complete this work. Well, it was a fabulous start to the year.  All the kids have been so settled and are right into work.   This week we will be continuing our work on place value in maths and working through narrative writing in literacy.  In our Design and Technology task this week we are showing what we have learned so far about the sun, earth and moon. Design and Technology - Solar Mobile Task

  Good Morning Year 3 parents,   In Design and Technologies the students have been given a task to create a mobile that shows the relative size and distance of the sun, earth and moon.   For this project they have been split into groups and must bring in items from home to help create their mobile. Students are aware of the items they will require, but may need include:   Coat Hangers  Wooden/bamboo sticks  Wooden skewers   String  Cardboard  Foam balls   Aluminium foil   Wire  Paint, glue and coloured card will be provided.   The students will need their materials for our next Design and Technology class on Wednesday 17 th  February 2021.   Thank you,  Miss Lombardi and Mr McSevich

Week 1 version 2!!

Well, it was finally great to start the year after the little pause we had last week.  The children have settled in very well and were straight into the swing of things. This week we will be getting to know each other and our classroom expectations as we work through place value in maths and begin narrative writing in literacy.  In science this term we are exploring Earth Science and have linked both Design and Technology and Art into this topic. Just a few points of note this week;  Uniform Term one is our Summer uniform:  Girls - Summer dress with brown sandals or black school shoes with white socks. Boys - White shirt, grey shorts with brown sandals or black school shoes with grey socks. Please see school website for more information.  We will need to wear our sport uniform this semester on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
