Term 2 Week 2

Good afternoon parents, Hopefully you all a very restful ANZAC weekend, I know I did!  Just a few reminders for Week 2... Homework   This week we are completing reading, mental maths and spelling, although I am not sending home the homework.  Home readers can be changed in the mornings, encourage your child to swap it at least once a week so that they have a new home reader.   Reconciliation Workshop This Wednesday we commence preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation with the Reconciliation Parent and Child workshop at 6.00pm in the hall.  This provides an opportunity for you and your child to gain an shared understanding of the Sacrament that they will be receiving.  Mrs Meyer has previously sent out a message regarding this workshop, with this being an expectation for those who will be receiving the Sacrament and an open invitation for those who will not be. Term 2 Week 1

Good afternoon and welcome back to term 2!!  Hopefully you had a restful and enjoyable break.  I was able to have a great time with my family, even getting to spend some time in Fremantle Prison, where some of the rooms have now been converted to accommodation. This term is going to be busy here in 3M with us learning about persuasive texts, Heat and how it moves, data and statistics in Maths and completing our Reconciliation. Homework Homework will begin this week. Reading, mental maths, spelling and the homework grid are to be completed and handed in on Friday. I have also sent home some 4 times tables work and flash cards.  Please remember to sign your child’s homework. Week 9 Term 1

Can you believe it is already the end of Term 1? I know I can't, but we are still learning about rhetorical questions and how they help to grab our attention in persuasive texts!!  I hope you all had a relaxing weekend and were able to enjoy some sunshine.  Parent Teacher Interviews Firstly, thank you to all those parents that have attended (and will be attending) parent interviews. It has been great to sit down and firstly meet many of you, but also discuss how your children are going so far. Please remember, if at any time you have concerns, questions or just want a chat, please drop in and see me or send me an email.  Homework Our usual homework is due this week, but on Thursday 1st April as Friday is a public holiday. Easter Story Liturgy On Wednesday at 10am the Easter Story will be presented to the school by the Year 5s. Week 6

Good afternoon parents Hopefully you enjoyed a restful and refreshing weekend.   This week we are writing our hot task narratives to show all the work we have been putting in to learning this text type.  We will then be moving on to persuasive writing.   Homework Homework books came home with the usual spelling, maths and reading.  This weeks mental strategy is the double, double strategy.  If your child is struggling with this strategy, the attached video may assist ( double, double strategy ) Reminders Swimming This week we travelling to the pool in Busselton for swimming lessons.  We will leave school at about 9:30 and return around 1 as we will be having double lessons with a break in between.  As such please ensure that you child has a packed recess and crunch-n-sip as we will need to take these with us to the pool. Week 5

Good afternoon parents Hopefully you enjoyed a restful and refreshing weekend.   In class we have been working on descriptive writing and are moving on to writing a narrative that shows everything we have been focused on.  We are also learning about why we have our seasons, how they to the northern hemisphere and why the Wadandi calendar is different to ours. Homework Homework books came home with the usual spelling, maths and reading.  I have also included a multiplication chart and 2 times tables scaffold to assist when using the flash cards sent home a few weeks ago.  In the coming weeks I will be sending home 4 times tables flash cards.
