Week 7

Image
Good afternoon Parents Welcome to week 3, a short week before a well deserved long weekend.  This week we are working on our second book review with a view to publishing them.  In Maths we are working on the formal multiplication algorithm. As part of our learning about National Sorry Day, the whole school (yep all of us) came together to make a wonderful art piece as shown in the picture below.  Year 3's also spent time learning about why we have sorry day, why it is important and how people have been impacted by decisions of the past. Homework this week includes the usual, spelling, reading and maths with our mental strategy being the pattern when we multiply a number by ten/hundred/thousand (hint, we write the number of zeros we multiply by then move the number forward that many times, ie....25 x 100 =   there are 2 zeros in 100 so we write them first moving the 25 along 2 places to give us 2500). Just a few reminders this week Pupil Free Days  - Please note that this weekend is

Good afternoon parents,  This week we are getting our teeth into book reviews in writing.  We will be starting to write our own ones mid week, so if you child has a book at home they enjoy that might be suitable for them to write a review on, they are more than welcome to bring it in for Wednesday .  Just a few reminders this week. OLC Celebrates National Sorry Day – Bring a T Shirt! Wednesday the 26th May marks National Sorry Day and Thursday the 27th marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week. These are important dates for us to acknowledge as we work toward harmony and intercultural understanding as a nation. The theme for Reconciliation week this year is: More than a word … Reconciliation takes action. Considering this theme, we are planning on conducting a whole school event involving all OLC students, and parents are asked dress their child with either a black, red or yellow T shirt (any shade or hue is fine) and black sports shorts on the day of Wednesday 26th May .
