Week 7

Good afternoon Parents

Welcome to week 3, a short week before a well deserved long weekend.  This week we are working on our second book review with a view to publishing them.  In Maths we are working on the formal multiplication algorithm.

As part of our learning about National Sorry Day, the whole school (yep all of us) came together to make a wonderful art piece as shown in the picture below.  Year 3's also spent time learning about why we have sorry day, why it is important and how people have been impacted by decisions of the past.

Homework this week includes the usual, spelling, reading and maths with our mental strategy being the pattern when we multiply a number by ten/hundred/thousand (hint, we write the number of zeros we multiply by then move the number forward that many times, ie....25 x 100 =   there are 2 zeros in 100 so we write them first moving the 25 along 2 places to give us 2500).

Just a few reminders this week

Pupil Free Days - Please note that this weekend is an extra long weekend. The school staff will will be participating in a session with Fr Tony Chiera on Friday.  On Tuesday we will be spending time with Laura Allison examining strategies on how schools can promote wellbeing for staff and students.

OLC Dance Concert - Last week I put up a blog about the upcoming dance concert - here.  Mrs Haines also put a blog up last week about students that may be away on the last day of school.  If you have not already read the blog, please do so at https://danceolc.blogspot.com/.

Focus Character Strength - This week we will be looking at the character strength of Creativity! 

Ask your child where this strength came in when they completed their Character Strength survey and where they might see this in their daily lives...we are talking in class about occasions where we see this strength in action.

Good afternoon parents, I cannot believe that we are in the last week of Year Three for 2018... the whole year has  gone very fast and we have watched your children grow into beautiful, mature, capable and motivated students! Ihave loved working with them and have been an absolute pleasure to teach! REMINDERS - WEEK 9 Vinny's Donations -  Our tub is located in the wet area. If you can please make any small donation of toiletry items it will go a long way to helping make someone's Christmas very special. These hampers will be put together and handed over at assembly on Friday morning.  Hello 3Mc parents and welcome to week 5! I can’t believe we are nearly half way through the term! I hope that you all had a great weekend.  Stop Motion In art this term we are learning about and creating stop motion movies.  Students have created story boards outlining what they intend filming and as such know what characters they will need.  Please support your child to remember the characters they will need to commence filming this Wednesday. Students may like to bring small figures such as lego to represent the characters of their movies. Pupil Free day: A reminder that there is a pupil free day on Friday 12 November. The staff will be creating our School Improvement Plan for 2022, work on our school Vision for learning, analyse our NAPLAN and PAT test data and school strategic plan. Week 3

Good afternoon parents and welcome to  Week 3 !  Our Reconciliation celebration is on Wednesday night beginning at 6pm at Our Lady of the Southern Cross Church. Please see below for some important information. RECONCILIATION REMINDERS - WEDNESDAY 24TH OCTOBER 6PM  Arrival Time & Dress  - Please be at the Church by 5.45pm.  Your child is to be dressed in smart casual clothing. Upon arrival they will show you to your seat. Please be mindful that some of the pews are quite small so it will be for immediate family only (parents/siblings). There will be room in the choir loft for additional family members. Prayer Buddies  - All prayer buddies are expected to attend...please let me know via email if you are unable to attend. Rehearsals  - We will be walking down to the Church on Tuesday afternoon from 1.30 - 2.45pm and then again on Wednesday 11.30- 1.30pm - please make sure your child brings a packed lunch for Wednesday as we will eat down at the church.
