Week 4

Good afternoon and welcome to (the much shortened) week 4. Hopefully you all had a restful and enjoyable long weekend.

This week we have reduced our homework load due to time constraints so we will not have any written mental maths.  However, we will still include spelling and reading.

Homework

We have also included a special homework activity designed around coming to class with with an understanding of the task that is to be completed in class.  For our Thursday writing task, I ask that children to come to school tomorrow having been through and chosen an image from the Literacy Shed website which they believe they will be able to write a description about. I ask that you support your child to do this and to start thinking about what they can see, smell, hear and touch in the image.  Students do not need to write anything at home, just to choose a picture and start thinking about it, although you might like to discuss with them what they will write about in the image.  Our task on Thursday will be to create a Y-chart planner of the setting (image).

Earlier this term we sent home multiplication and division flashcards. The concept is the 2 times tables which follows from skip counting by 2's learned in Year 2.  We have discussed and worked through how we can use skip counting to help with the two times tables and with division by 2, but if your child needs assistance please let me know. Here are some resources if needed:

Swimming Lessons

Year 3Mc will have their swimming lessons during the week beginning 15th March.

We will be travelling to the pool in Busselton for swimming lessons.  We will leave school at approximately 9:30 and return around 1 as we will be having double lessons with a break in between.  As such please ensure that you child has a packed recess and crunch-n-sip as we will need to take these with us to the pool.

Please take the time to check that your child has what they need and that it is all clearly labelled;
  • bathers
  • towel
  • goggles
  • change of underwear
  • thongs to were on the bus and to the pool
  • Rashie
  • Sports Uniform
Please include underwear in this as there is always a pair left over that belongs to no one!

Your child can wear their bathers underneath their sports uniform if they are comfortable but we will also give time for them to get changed.

Please note - your child must come to school wearing their sneakers, not thongs.

Thanks for your ongoing support

Sean McSevich
